PUMPKIN SHAPED BREAD
Prep time 3-4 hours
Cook time 35 - 40 mins
Serves 6-8
Ingredients
400g bread flour
1½ tsp instant yeast
25g caster sugar
237ml warm water (+15–30ml if needed)
¾ tsp salt
28g softened butter
1 beaten egg
4 × 50cm string pieces
Method
Mix flour, yeast, sugar & warm water. Add salt & butter, knead till smooth.
Let rise 1–1.5 hrs till doubled. Punch down dough, shape into a ball.
Place on baking paper over criss-crossed strings, brush with egg wash.
Tie strings to form pumpkin sections, trim ends. Slash segments, proof 30–45 mins.
Preheat casserole pot in oven @220°C for 30 mins.
Add dough, bake 20 mins covered, then 15–20 mins uncovered @190°C till golden.
Cool 10–15 mins, then remove strings. Add a cinnamon stick for that cute pumpkin look.
